Asteroids Instructions
Use the arrows on your keyboard to move and turn. The left and right arrows are used to turn.
The up and down arrows move forward and back. Use the space key or X to fire.
You can hold down arrow keys when moving or the space bar or X for auto-fire.
You can also use the a key to turn auto-fire on and click it again to turn it off.
Hit P for pause, M for mute, and Z to jump (warp) to a random location on the board.
Collect powerups for better weapons.
Occasionally, UFOs will appear. Their missles can be shot down.
When the UFOs are close, they will fire straight shots that can't be destroyed.
Each round, there are more asteroids, they get faster, and they break up into more pieces.
Keyboard Issues: Some keyboards limit the numbers of keys that can be pressed at once.
Maybe your keyboard beeps when many keys are pressed at once, or maybe it just ignores the 2nd or 3rd keypress.
If you are having problems trying to shoot, thrust, and steer at the same time then try using the X
key instead of the space bar to fire. If that doesn't help, then use the A key to turn on Auto-Fire.
With the A key Auto-fire, you don't have to hold down the fire key.
Scoring: Big rocks are worth 3 points. Small rocks are worth 5. UFOs are worth 25.
You get a free ship every 500 points.
Strategy: Make sure you are not near the edges when new asteroids appear.
Don't bother with the warp. If you are a beginner, you may want to try not moving and
stay in the middle of the board as long as possible. Another beginner strategy is to concentrate
on the small rocks before breaking up the larger rocks. In later rounds there is too much chaos to do this.
